Tour de Chambers
Tour de Chambers is a charity cycling challenge taking place on 28 May, where Steve Phillips from East Midlands Chamber will ride unsupported between the Chamber’s four regional offices in one day. The challenge is raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Steve’s dad, Tim, who sadly passed away in 2022 just four weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma. Donations will help fund vital support, information and research for people affected by brain tumours.
Tour de Chambers is a charity cycling challenge taking place on 28 May, organised by Steve Phillips, a Business Adviser at East Midlands Chamber.
Steve will be cycling unsupported between the Chamber’s four regional offices in one day, covering around 200km across the East Midlands. The ride will start early in the morning and will take in a full day on the bike, linking together the Chamber offices and the communities, businesses and colleagues connected across the region.
The challenge is being completed in memory of Steve’s dad, Tim Phillips, who was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 glioblastoma at the beginning of 2022. Just four weeks later, on 16 March 2022, Tim sadly passed away.
Tim was a huge sports fan and a well-known figure to many in Worcestershire sporting circles. Whether he was playing, watching, coaching, supporting or simply talking sport, it was a massive part of who he was. Tour de Chambers is Steve’s way of taking on a challenge that reflects that same sporting spirit, while also raising awareness of the devastating impact brain tumours can have on individuals and families.
The fundraising is in support of The Brain Tumour Charity, which provides vital information, support and research funding for people affected by brain tumours. Donations can help make a real difference, from providing information packs for people newly diagnosed, to funding support for young adults and contributing towards world-class research.
Steve is aiming to raise £1,500 through the challenge and is encouraging anyone who can support, share or donate to get involved.
