Now in its tenth year, the Festival of Christmas Trees continues to grow.

Hardwick Wintertide

What to expect
At this year’s Hardwick Wintertide, the theme is The Tale of Misrule and the Holly King.

Discover how the mischievous Lord of Misrule plays with tradition, preparing for his legendary party while the natural world runs riot inside the house. Will he reconcile with the Holly King and help un-muddle Hardwick before it’s too late?

Alongside the themed, festive fun, Hardwick Wintertide also offers workshops that let you get hands-on with Elizabethan-inspired crafts. Create willow and rag wreaths, try historic blackwork embroidery, or explore natural woad dyeing to make unique festive gifts.

You can also enjoy special performances, including the Eckington Singers and Storyfolk storytelling, which add some narrative magic to your visit.

Late-night openings invite you to enjoy mulled wine in the gardens while the hall glows with festive light.

Brampton Brewery Tour

The Brampton Brewery Tour brings to life the brewery’s history, explains the brewing process, and offers the chance to taste Brampton Brewery’s award-winning beer. Crooked Spire Tower Tours

The popular Crooked Spire Tower Tours are another great reason to visit The Parish Church of St Mary and All Saints. All families should visit the famous ‘Crooked Spire’ at least once. Why not count your way up all 152 steps to reveal wonderful views over Chesterfield?

Learn about the history of the medieval church, and the peregrine falcons that breed under the spire, see the bells, visit the inside of the iconic Crooked Spire, and enjoy stunning views over Chesterfield from the viewing platform (from July onwards).

Crooked Spire Tower Tours are taking place every Friday and Saturday from 2:30 pm. Please note, there is a limit of 15 people for each tour and one tour only for each advertised time.

It is not possible to book in advance by phone, online, or by email. Tickets may be bought from the church Gift Shop from the Monday before the tour takes place.
