Matlock Bath Illuminations is a fun-packed family event featuring a spectacular parade of illuminated and decorated boats along the River Derwent. We open in 2026 with a Preview Night on Saturday 12th September, followed by every weekend from 19th September to November 1st, plus Friday 30th October.

During the 8-week season Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders’ Association decorate themed models with an array of coloured lights. The models are mounted on rowing boats and paraded on the River Derwent at the following times:

Lots of local traders, food vendors, and activities such as axe throwing, archery, dog show, and fun fair rides – Local bar The Nags Head Pleasley will be joining the event too.

Featuring the iconic music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer! Step into the world of the big screen with The Sound of Cinema, a thrilling evening of iconic film music, performed live by Derwent Brass, conducted by Jack Capstaff.

One World Festival returns to the scenic town of New Mills on Saturday 4th, July for a FREE afternoon of live music, international food and fun activities for all ages.

Free community event with fun for all the family

Tour de Chambers is a charity cycling challenge taking place on 28 May, where Steve Phillips from East Midlands Chamber will ride unsupported between the Chamber’s four regional offices in one day. The challenge is raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Steve’s dad, Tim, who sadly passed away in 2022 just four weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma. Donations will help fund vital support, information and research for people affected by brain tumours.

Pop‑Up Exhibition Coming Soon — A one‑day celebration of Chesterfield’s creativity is heading to King George V Park, Staveley, and you’re invited.

On Saturday 20 June 2026, 11am–2pm, the park will come alive with artwork created by local school children and young people, shown alongside pieces from local artists, creatives and community groups.
Expect vibrant displays, live performances and free creative activities on the day.
