Buxton are on the road as they face Worksop Town on Easter Monday with a 3pm kickoff.
The Bucks
On Friday Buxton lost 4-2 to Macclesfield with goals from Cian Coleman and George Ward for The Bucks.
Reflecting on the game, manager John McGrath said:
“It was disappointing to lose after going a goal up in the first half. I think the goals we conceded today were really soft, considering we were on the back of five wins in a row and four clean sheets in those.
Really disappointing from a defensive aspect and especially going a goal up very early, I just thought we would really kick on now.
Having got back in the game early in the second half at 2-2, I felt at the time there was only going to be one winner and it was going to be us. Unfortunately, again we concede two sloppy goals.”
Opposition facts
Worksop Town have Craig Perry in charge, having taken on the role in April 2020. He was previously manager of Pontefract Collieries.
The club are based in Nottinghamshire and were founded in 1861, but there is no evidence that they actually played a game until 1875.
Nicknamed The Tigers, they play their home matches at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium, which has a capacity of 2,000.
Historically, they reached the third round of the FA Cup in the 1955–56 season, their best-ever run.
In the FA Trophy, Macclesfield have reached the quarter-finals in their best appearances, which they did twice: once in 2001 and again in 2006.
The club finished second in the NPL Premier Division and won promotion to the National League North via the play-offs. They earned 83 points in the regular season before defeating Guiseley in the play-off final.
Looking at recent form, Macclesfield sit 14th across the last ten games, with Buxton in 8th.
Last time out, they drew 1–1 with Alfreton Town, with Aaron Martin scoring the goal for the Tigers.
In the home form guide, they are 15th, with 29 points from 21 games.
Worksop are 16th in the league after 42 games, having picked up 51 points so far this season.
One to Watch: Liam Waldock
Waldock signed for the club on loan from Boston United at the beginning of March.
He began his career at Sheffield Wednesday before impressing out on loan at Gainsborough. While at the Holy Blues, he scored 20 goals in 46 games.
Alfreton Town then acquired him, where he made almost 100 appearances and scored 25 goals.
The midfielder is now at Boston, where he has made 12 appearances before being loaned out.
Last time they faced
Earlier this season, it was a 3–1 win for The Bucks, with goals from Luke Brennan, George Ward and Adriel Walker proving the difference for the home side.
The last time they met at Worksop was a 0–0 draw in a pre-season friendly in 2024, where Luke Shiels was sent off.
