Drivers Warned After Parking Crackdown in Peak District Beauty Spot
Motorists visiting the Peak District have been warned to park responsibly after police took enforcement action over dangerous and obstructive parking at the weekend.
Officers from Derbyshire Police’s Hope Valley beat team were called to the Mam Tor area on Saturday following reports of vehicles blocking roads and creating hazards. Patrols along Mam Nick and Winnats Pass, near Castleton, resulted in a number of parking tickets being issued.
Police said cars had been left on clearways and in unsafe locations, including blind bends and road junctions, posing risks to other drivers and pedestrians. Officers say such parking can also prevent emergency vehicles from accessing the area.
In a statement shared online, the Hope Valley team urged visitors to make use of designated parking bays and local car parks, stressing that inconsiderate parking places a heavy burden on nearby communities and local businesses.
