Tributes paid to teenager who lost her life in Sutton Scarsdale collision

The family of a teenager who lost her life in a collision have paid tribute to her as an ‘outgoing young girl, full of life’.

Summer was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa which left the road and was in collision with a tree in Sutton Lane, Sutton Scarsdale on Sunday 19 April.

The 17-year-old suffered serious injuries and lost her life at the scene.

Summer’s mum has now paid tribute to her, saying: “Summer was an outgoing young girl, full of life, bubbly, very chatty and loved being the centre of attention.

“She was very motivated and knew where she wanted to go in life.

“Summer had just started working at McDonald’s which she was excited about, and was also at college where she studied construction.

“Her favourite part of this was carpentry and she was eventually going to work with her stepdad Julian.

“Summer was a very playful character. She loved getting new piercings and was excited about getting her first tattoo when she turned 18 in October.

“Her hobbies included eating out as she loved her food, going out with her friends and looking after her pets.

“She loved her three horses and this was a hobby she shared with her mum Beckie. They spent a lot of time together looking after the horses and Summer also loved her dogs.

“She was very family orientated and adored her little sisters Bonnie and Bella.

“Summer was an incredibly loved daughter, sister, niece and cousin.

“She was just enjoying living life to the fullest as a 17-year-old.”

Summer’s dad added: “Growing up Summer loved baking and cooking, making Youtube videos, going to watch Mansfield Town, helping out with household tasks and being mischievous.

“She loved telling random jokes to her granddad George and dad Rob. Her grandad doted on Summer, giving her the name Twinkle, due to her lighting up his day when he spent time with her. He would always struggle to say no to her if she needed anything.

“We are very proud to have Summer as our daughter and granddaughter.

“She was always smiling and lit up every room she entered with her twinkly, chatty personality.

“Summer’s death has left a cataclysmic hole in her whole family’s life and everyone who knew Summer.”
