Success for schemes tackling anti-social behaviour in Derbyshire

Hotspot policing and Immediate Justice will continue to make a difference to communities by addressing and preventing anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Both the schemes have now been extended, thanks to funding from the Home Office and force funds.

Chief Constable Rachel Swann recently joined a hotspot patrol and shared an update about the future of the schemes, which you can watch below.

Introduced in 2023, hotspot policing has introduced extra patrols in target areas where we’ve received reports of disruptive or nuisance behaviour.

Recent figures show that areas selected for the additional hotspot patrols have seen a 27% reduction in anti-social behaviour (ASB) on average, with one area seeing a 45% reduction.

All crime in these areas reduced by more than 12%, compared with 2% forcewide.

These patrols will continue for the next year with funding from the Home Office.

Immediate Justice, which sees perpetrators of anti-social behaviour make amends for their actions by completing work within the community, such as litter picking or volunteering.

Those who complete the scheme also receive sessions which offer an opportunity to think about their behaviour and how this has impacted their community.

In Derbyshire, 74% of people completing the scheme haven’t reoffended since.
