A major new partnership has been launched by Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts and East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward offering businesses the opportunity to boost their resilience against crime and anti-social behaviour, and work with the police to address the crimes impacting them through the new Business Crime Reduction Partnership model.
Organisations across Derbyshire are being invited to the attend one of a series of free Tackling Business Crime Together events offering expert insight and initiatives, facilitating discussions to address key challenges facing businesses today, and to receive updates from Derbyshire Constabulary.
Anti- social behaviour, fraud and cybercrime, theft and retail crime, and staff and customer safety are just some of the issues that will be under the spotlight.
The events, which will be attended by the Derbyshire PCC, East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward and Acting Chief Constable Simon Blatchly OBE, are designed to help businesses establish new connections, find out about the action being taken by police and partners to reduce business crime, share experiences and access prevention advice to lower their risk of being targeted by criminals.
The first event is set to take place on Tuesday 3 November 2026, from 12:30pm to 4:30pm at Casa Hotel, Chesterfield, and is open to all Derbyshire businesses.
The Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) events will also introduce businesses to crime prevention and security organisations and showcase the practical solutions and technology available to help safeguard their organisations.
Each event will include a Q&A session to allow businesses to ask questions and hear directly from the panel of experts.
The PCC recently brought the Derbyshire BCRP into her office, indicating her determination to be an active partner in efforts to address business and retail crime and increase support for the business community.
In her Police and Crime Plan, the Commissioner vowed to ensure business and retail crime are tackled across Derby and Derbyshire while seeking to improve the reporting of incidents and sharing intelligence through technology under her Anti-Social Behaviour and Community Safety priority.
Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts said: “Businesses are at the heart of thriving communities, and when crime affects them, the impact is felt by everyone through increased costs, reduced investment, fewer job opportunities and lower public confidence.
“Businesses and retailers deserve support to protect their customers, staff, livelihoods and assets. That is why becoming a member is free for all businesses, and the event is free to attend and open to organisations of all sizes and sectors across Derbyshire.
“I am grateful to Claire Ward and our Acting Chief Constable, Simon Blatchly, for their commitment and efforts in forming this important partnership. Tackling business and retail crime is a key priority in my Police and Crime Plan and reflects the concerns raised by residents, businesses and partners across the county.
