New man for Matlock Town as Graham Drury checks in

Matlock Town FC have confirmed the appointment of Graham Drury as their new manager ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Drury arrives at the Proctor Cars Stadium following a successful and lengthy association with Stamford AFC, where he spent a decade across three spells. His departure from the Daniels was agreed by mutual consent.

A proven winner at non-league level, Drury first joined Stamford in 2005 and made an immediate impact, guiding the club to promotion via the play-offs in his first season. He later returned in 2012 before embarking on a third stint that brought further success and stability.

During his time at the club, Drury oversaw a memorable FA Cup run, including a standout 3-1 victory over Wrexham AFC, which attracted national attention, before facing Hartlepool United in the next round. He also led Stamford to the Northern Premier League Midlands Division title, securing promotion to Step 3, where they regularly challenged for the play-offs.

The 2025/26 campaign proved more difficult, with Stamford spending much of the season near the bottom of the Southern League Premier Central. However, Drury engineered an impressive turnaround in the second half of the season, steering the side to safety and finishing eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Respected across the non-league game, Drury is known for building strong team spirit, developing young talent, and promoting an attractive style of football.

His appointment signals a fresh start for Matlock Town, who will be aiming to climb the table and push for success in the upcoming campaign.
