Stalemate was the outcome at the Silverlands as Buxton and Peterborough Sports played out a goalless draw.
Early pressure from Buxton saw them win a free-kick on the left-hand side, with Luke Brennan picking out Kieran Burton, whose effort drifted narrowly wide of the post.
Making his first start for the club, Kurt Willoughby tested his luck from distance, only for a Peterborough defender to clear behind for a corner.
Next, Brennan cut inside following a neat pass from Burton, but Kevin Joshua bravely blocked the effort with his head.
Moments later, Johnny Johnston laid the ball back to Zac Gilsenan, whose strike flew high over the crossbar.
Joe Young was called into action in the 31st minute, punching clear from a dangerous corner.
Before the interval, Crook produced two excellent saves in quick succession. He first denied Willoughby from close range with a smart stop after a superb delivery from Sammy Robinson. Then reacted sharply to keep out Ashton Mee’s close range shot.
Kirby had the opening chance of the second half, though his powerful effort sailed over the bar.
Shortly after, Brennan tried his luck from range once more, with his shot narrowly clearing the crossbar.
Pressure from the visitors followed, but Buxton defended resolutely to see off the threat.
Buxton’s best opportunity of the half fell to Gilsenan, who just failed to connect with Johnston’s inviting cross into the area.
Late drama almost saw Peterborough snatch the win when Young failed to clear a pass from Kirby, but Malik Cadogan somehow missed an empty net.
Finally, in added time, Brennan fired an ambitious effort from distance that drifted wide, ensuring the points were shared.
