Buxton produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Chorley 3-2 at The Silverlands.
The hosts made a lively start, putting their visitors under early pressure. A goalmouth scramble from a corner saw both Callum Ebanks and George Ward go close, before Buxton continued to probe for an opener.
Chorley then began to settle, and their first real opportunity came when Mike Calveley met a Craig Hewitt delivery, his header drifting narrowly wide.
Buxton’s breakthrough arrived in the 36th minute thanks to a perfectly executed set-piece routine. Brennan’s pinpoint delivery found the head of Max Bardell, who powered his effort past the goalkeeper to give the Bucks a deserved lead.
Following the restart, Chorley responded strongly and levelled the score through former Buxton man Warren Clarke. The winger finding the back of the net in the 52nd minute, following a corner.
They nearly went ahead soon after when O’Kane curled an effort just wide.
The Magpies eventually turned the game around in the 81st minute, as George Pratt latched onto a loose ball and finished superbly to make it 2-1.
However, Buxton refused to give in. Substitute Johnny Johnston made an instant impact, dazzling defenders with quick footwork to win a penalty. Brennan stepped up confidently and buried his spot-kick to level the match once more.
Deep into stoppage time, the comeback was completed. After a flurry of blocked efforts in the box, the ball fell kindly to Ward, who fired home and secure all three points for Buxton.
