Buxton picked up another win to end 2025 with all three points with a 3-1 victory over Worksop.
Early on, the first big chance of the game fell to the visitors in the ninth minute as Lewis Whitham was played in behind, but Joe Young reacted sharply, racing off his line to deny him.
Soon after, Luke Brennan almost capitalised on a mistake by Worksop, bursting through with pace before dragging his effort just wide of the post.
The breakthrough arrived in the 17th minute when Buxton’s new loan signing Adriel Walker won a penalty for the home side. Brennan confidently stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give The Bucks a 1-0 lead.
Moments later, Tate Campbell came close to doubling the advantage, his first-time volley flashing just over the crossbar.
Pressure eventually told again as the second goal came in the 32nd minute, with George Ward rising highest from a corner to power a header into the net and extend Buxton’s lead.
After the restart, Buxton failed to clear their lines and the ball fell kindly to Aaron Martin, who headed home to pull a goal back for Worksop.
From there, the visitors enjoyed plenty of possession and began to apply sustained pressure, but Buxton’s defence stood firm to repel the threat.
On the hour mark, a teasing cross from Brennan picked out Douglas at the back post, only for his effort to be blocked away.
The breathing space was restored in the 75th minute as two loan players combined superbly. Douglas drove down the line with pace before finding Adriel Walker, who finished calmly into the corner to make it 3-1.
Late on, Young was called into action once more, first saving a header from former Buck Jordan Burrow before denying Aaron Martin with a similar stop to preserve Buxton’s two-goal cushion.
