More than 200 affordable homes started across Derbyshire as Platform climbs national rankings

Platform Housing Group started more than 200 new affordable homes across Derbyshire during 2025/26 as part of its strongest delivery performance in more than five years.

The homes formed part of a record year which saw Platform complete 1380 homes across England, helping the Group climb from 10th to eighth place nationally in Inside Housing’s annual Biggest Builders Survey.

Across Derbyshire, Platform:

  • Started work on 213 new homes;
  • Completed 76 new homes.

Gerraint Oakley, Chief Growth and Development Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “Derbyshire remains an important area for Platform and we’re proud to be delivering homes that meet a wide range of local housing needs, from affordable rent through to shared ownership.

“The strong pipeline of homes under construction demonstrates our long term commitment to investing in communities across the county.”

Homes have been delivered across a range of tenures, helping first time buyers onto the housing ladder while also increasing the supply of affordable rented homes for local families.

Work is continuing on hundreds more homes across the county as Platform expands its investment in affordable housing.

One such development is Shirebrook, a substantial collection of two, three and four bedroom shared ownership homes; the development includes air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.

The Group currently owns and manages more than 51,000 homes across the Midlands and expects to complete approximately 1600 further homes during 2026/27.

The Inside Housing Biggest Builders Survey is an annual ranking of housing associations based on the number of homes completed during the previous financial year.
