National League North: Alfreton Town 2–1 Spennymoor Town
Alfreton Town produced a dramatic late comeback to seal a 2–1 victory over Spennymoor Town at the Impact Arena on Tuesday evening.
It looked like being a difficult evening for the Reds when Glen Taylor put Spennymoor ahead just before half-time, converting in the 43rd minute after a swift counter-attack from the visitors. Despite creating several promising openings, Alfreton went into the break trailing and facing an uphill task.
However, Jake Buxton’s side showed terrific character in the closing stages. With just six minutes remaining, Mark Beck levelled the score, turning home from close range to give the hosts renewed belief. Then, only three minutes later, Billy Fewster struck a stunning late winner on 87 minutes to send the Impact Arena into celebration and secure all three points.
It was a spirited fightback from Alfreton, who demonstrated determination and composure under pressure to claim a memorable home victory.
