Help to shape the future of Buxton Museum and Art Gallery

People are being encouraged to give their views and help to shape the future of the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery by taking part in a survey.

The survey, which runs until Sunday 19 April 2026, aims to find out more about what current and potential visitors would like from the museum and art gallery in the future, with those taking part being given the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher.

Cabinet member for Health and Communities Councillor Dawn Taylor said:

“Whether you’ve visited Buxton Museum and Art Gallery before or not, and whether you live in Buxton, work there, or are a visitor to the town, we’d love to hear from you.

“Views we gather from the survey will help to shape what will be on offer in the future, whether it’s exhibitions, events or activities. We want to hear from as many people as possible so we can offer what people want and hopefully more.”

The museum is currently based temporarily at Buxton Library in Kents Bank Road and is scheduled to move into a larger, self-contained, dedicated space on the same site later this year. Views from the survey will help to determine what’s on offer in the new space.

Arts Council England funding has already been secured to support the museum and art gallery to move into the larger space, which will give more room for displays and exhibitions, and provide a better experience for visitors.

In the longer term, it is planned to move the museum and art gallery into a permanent home once this has been secured.

Please fill in the survey – it should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
