Chesterfield moved back into the League Two play-off places on Good Friday, beating Cheltenham Town 1-0 at the SMH Group Stadium.
The Spireites returned to action after an extended 13-day break looking to build on the 1-0 victory recorded at Accrington Stanley last time out; a result secured via a Will Dickson winner.
Putting together back-to-back wins had become something of a recurring issue for Paul Cook’s side though, with their failure to do so throughout the first quarter of 2026 a key reason they began the day’s play outside the top seven.
But the Blues would make the first stride towards righting that record by breaking the deadlock on 25 minutes, producing some patient build-up before Liam Mandeville delivered a wicked cross onto which Dickson duly arrived to poke home from cross range.
That was the first major action of the opening 45 and did help to liven up proceedings, as Tom Naylor and Ryan Stirk both went close to doubling the hosts’ advantage before the interval.
Once play resumed it would be the woodwork which would maintain the 1-0 scoreline twice in quick succession, with substitute Armando Dobra striking the post before Dilan Markanday blazed the rebound against the bar.
And despite two further efforts from Dobra and fellow sub Dylan Duffy also striking the frame of the goal, Dickson’s strike would ultimately prove to be enough for all three points for the second game running.
Having recorded a second consecutive victory and clean sheet here, Chesterfield will look to continue building momentum as they head to Barrow for Monday’s second half of the Easter double-header.
