Buxton wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a 2–0 victory, recording their first ever win away at Warrington Town.
The hosts were handed a golden opportunity to open the scoring after 13 minutes when Dontai Gabidon was brought down in the box by George Ward. Reece Daly stepped up to take the penalty, but Paul Cooper made a strong save. The rebound dropped to Liam Brazier, who struck the post from close range.
Buxton quickly grew into the game, stringing together some neat passing play that ended with Keziah Martin’s low cross being cleared.
Moments later, Martin combined well with Tate Campbell before spreading the play to Luke Brennan, who earned the visitors their first corner of the afternoon.
The breakthrough arrived in the 41st minute. Brennan burst down the wing on a quick break and delivered a fine cross into Ryan Viggars, who fired home with a to make it 1–0.
Warrington nearly responded just before the interval, as Gabidon let fly from 25 yards, only to see his strike cannon off the underside of the crossbar.
After the break, Buxton continued to look sharp. Will Trueman carried the ball forward before finding Martin out wide, and then made a clever run into the box to meet the return cross, but his header was directed just wide.
The visitors remained on the front foot. Johnny Johnston showed his pace on the wing before cutting inside and setting up Campbell, who put a shot just past the post.
Warrington came close from a set-piece when a delivery into the area caused panic. Kallan Murphy looked set to score, but Cooper reacted brilliantly to keep him out.
From a corner, Troy Bourne had a shot cleared off the line by Ryan McLean.
Buxton sealed the win late on. Johnston picked up the ball, rounded the goalkeeper with confidence, and slotted into an empty net to make it 2–0.
