Remaye Campbell struck twice for Hereford to seal victory over Buxton under the lights.
The opening chance of the game went to Hereford when Omari Sterling-James launched a long ball forward towards Andy Williams, but goalkeeper Paul Cooper was quick off his line to claim it.
Soon after, Lewis Jay Hudson picked out Williams on the left-hand side, though his tame effort was easily gathered by Cooper.
Buxton began to grow into the contest, with Luke Brennan breaking through on goal, only to be crowded out by the Bulls’ defence before he could get a shot away.
In the 19th minute, Cian Coleman cut inside and curled a strike narrowly wide of the right-hand post.
Moments later, after a neat passing move, Bucks captain Connor Kirby tried his luck from distance, but his low drive missed the bottom corner by inches.
Hereford made the breakthrough in the 36th minute when Campbell collected the ball inside the box and, with the outside of his foot, guided it into the far corner.
Just before the interval, Campbell doubled his tally and his side’s advantage, heading home from a corner to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.
After the restart, Brennan’s inswinging corner almost provided a lifeline as it crashed against the post before being hacked clear.
Mitchell Roberts then forced a save from Cooper, with Williams firing over from the rebound.
Not long after, Brennan again came close to halving the deficit when he weaved his way through the middle, but his shot flew wide.
Sammy Robinson tried to inspire a late response for the Bucks, striking a volley that was comfortably held by Theo Richardson.
Deep into stoppage time, Tai Sodje marked his first goal for the club with a looping header over Richardson, meeting a pinpoint cross from Ryan McLean to reduce the deficit.
Nevertheless, Buxton’s late goal wasn’t enough, as they slipped to a second consecutive defeat.
