Buxton progressed through to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win against Redditch United.
Neither side managed to stamp their authority on the contest in the early exchanges, with chances at a premium.
The first real opening arrived in the 15th minute when Tai Sodje’s strike inside the box was blocked, before Connor Kirby’s follow-up effort rolled inches wide.
The visitors quickly responded as Matthew Warburton threaded a pass through to Robbie Bunn, who fired over from the edge of the area.
Buxton were dealt an early setback when Sammy Robinson was forced off injured on 20 minutes, with Max Bardell introduced in his place.
Looking to spark his side into life, Tyler Bruck whipped a dangerous low cross across the face of goal, but no red shirt could apply the finishing touch. Bruck remained lively and almost made the breakthrough himself on 37 minutes, his effort spilled by Paul Cooper before the goalkeeper recovered at the second attempt.
Just before the interval, Brennan injected pace down the left flank, but a heavy touch allowed the advancing keeper to smother the danger.
The Bucks began the second half brightly and nearly found the opener when Sodje met Brennan’s cross with a header, only for Tyreese Warmington to produce a fine reaction save.
Ten minutes later, they had their reward. Joe Hull brought down Sodje inside the box and Brennan calmly converted the resulting spot-kick to put Buxton ahead.
From there, the hosts took control. In the 67th minute, Will Trueman’s perfectly weighted pass released Sodje, who finished coolly to double the advantage.
Sodje then put the result beyond doubt six minutes from time, racing in behind once again and slotting home with composure to seal his brace and a 3-0 victory.
