Local school children who helped develop plans for a new play space have visited the park now that the refurbishment has been completed.
The new play space at Poolsbrook Country Park was designed following consultation with Poolsbrook Primary Academy and recently members of their school council visited the park to see the changes for themselves.
Poolsbrook Country Park play space has been transformed with new equipment including new swings, climbing frame, roundabout, see saw, zip line, surfacing, and a toddler area that has age-appropriate equipment and sensory panels.
Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council’s deputy leader, said: “I’m delighted that children from the school who shared their ideas for this new play area could visit to see the transformation for themselves.
“It’s important that we provide a safe place where children can explore, enjoy being outdoors and meet new friends. With the quality of the transformation, I’m sure this play area will prove to be very popular for many years to come.”
Poolsbrook Country Park play space has received £100,000 from the Mayor of the East Midlands and East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) from funding provided by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to pay for the refurbishment.

“By improving play areas, we are helping to boost pride in place and support healthier, more connected communities.
