Plans Submitted to Turn Historic Alfreton Hall into School

Plans have been submitted to transform a historic former wedding venue in Alfreton into a school.

Kingdom Christian School has lodged a planning application with Amber Valley Borough Council to convert Alfreton Hall, a Grade II listed building dating back to the early 18th Century.

The hall, originally built between 1724 and 1725, has a long history and was partially demolished in 1968. The proposed development would see the school relocate from its current site on Derby Road into the historic building.

According to planning documents, the site would accommodate both pupils and staff, with the number of students expected to grow from around 40 to approximately 80 over the next five years.

The plans also include using part of the building as a school hall for events and conferences, while former staff accommodation and office space could be converted into business units.

Developers say the project would give the building a “fresh lease of life”, with refurbishment and maintenance helping to secure its long-term future while preserving its historic character.

If approved, the scheme would see the landmark building brought back into regular use as an educational and community facility.
