Oldham Athletic 1–1 Chesterfield
Chesterfield were forced to settle for a point at Boundary Park after a dramatic 1–1 draw with Oldham Athletic, in a match that saw goals in either half and a late red card.
The Spireites made a strong start and were rewarded in the 21st minute when Adam Lewis opened the scoring, finishing confidently to give the visitors a deserved early lead. Chesterfield looked composed and in control for large periods of the first half, moving the ball well and limiting Oldham’s opportunities.
Oldham responded after the break and levelled the match on 59 minutes through Kane Drummond, who found the net as the hosts increased the pressure. Chesterfield regrouped and showed resilience in the closing stages, pushing forward in search of a winner while remaining disciplined at the back.
The game took a dramatic turn deep into stoppage time when Kyle McFadzean was shown a red card on 90+2 minutes, forcing Chesterfield to finish the match with ten men. Despite the late setback, the Spireites held firm to secure a valuable away point.
