A ruthless Derby County B side inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat on Buxton to knock them out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Buxton created the first opening of the game when Callum Ebanks dribbled into the area before firing wide of the target.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Derby’s Owen Eames burst forward with speed down the left-hand side and forced Paul Cooper into a sharp low stop.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 28th minute as Cruz Allen curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Shortly afterwards, Ebanks had a big chance from a deep free-kick delivered by Will Trueman, but his header was kept out by Sam Kane.

Controversy followed when Allen doubled his tally from the penalty spot after Keziah Martin was adjudged to have fouled a Derby player in the area, and the forward’s Panenka made it 2-0 just before half-time.

Five minutes into the second half, Jerome Richards added Derby’s third, finishing at the second attempt after meeting a cross into the box from Eames.

Introduced from the bench, Ryan McLean looked lively for the hosts and forced Kane into a near-post save.

Relentless in their pursuit of more goals, Derby continued to threaten, with Allen going close to his hat-trick on the hour mark as he fired narrowly wide of the post.

Finally, the fourth arrived in the 85th minute when Eames won the ball back and delicately chipped it into the net to secure their place in the next round of the competition.
