Operation Shango: ASB falls 24% as high visibility patrols continue across Derbyshire

Recently, Derbyshire Police announced that trailblazer schemes tackling anti-social behaviour in Derbyshire will continue, thanks to Home Office and force funds.

The Hotspot Policing and Immediate Justice schemes were introduced in July 2023 and have made an impact across the county.

In the 22 months the schemes have been in place, the most recent figures show there have been:

13,492 extra hotspot patrols, targeting areas that see increased levels of problem behaviour.
20,297 hours of officer time spent on these targeted patrols.
A 24% reduction in anti-social behaviour in these hotspot areas.
1,261 referrals made to our Immediate Justice scheme, which sees those committing crimes make amends through work in their community.
Hotspot and Immediate Justice Manager Becky Clough said: “The figures continue to be impressive, but the real impact has been the response that these extra, high visibility patrols have had from the communities in Derbyshire.

“Operation Shango helps us to put officers where they’re most needed to tackle problem behaviour, and immediate justice has helped get closure for victims as well as helping perpetrators of crime to make a change for the better.”
