Ben Grist

Following the end of his loan spell, Ben Grist has gone back to his parent club, Boston United.

He has since gone on loan to Cleethorpes Town.

Jordan Broadbent

Reflecting on the game against South Shields, Broadbent said:

“Disappointing way to go out of the FA Cup, which is a really important competition for us.

I just think we didn’t get a foothold in the game, especially in the first half. I thought we had moments in the second half and we huffed and puffed, but just didn’t have enough quality in those moments. But yeah, really disappointing all round.”

Opposition Facts

Founded in 2010 as a phoenix club to King’s Lynn FC, the new side started life in the United Counties League Premier Division, finishing as runners-up in their first season and reaching the FA Vase semi-finals.

Their best FA Cup runs came in 2020–21 and 2022–23, with both campaigns ending in the second round proper.

In the FA Trophy, their top performance was in 2012–13 when they reached the third round.

The club’s biggest victory was a 10–1 win over Raunds Town in the United Counties League Premier Division on 1 January 2011.

Nicknamed The Linnets, their crest features a bird, and they play at The Walks, a stadium with a capacity of 8,200 and 1,200 seats.

The home team is managed by Paul Caddis, appointed in March earlier this year. It’s his second managerial role after Hereford, where he led their highest points total in National League North history. As a player, he made over 100 appearances for Birmingham City and earned a Scotland cap.

Last season, they finished 19th in the National League North, earning 52 points and narrowly avoiding relegation on goal difference.

This season’s home kit is yellow with blue stripes, while the away kit is blue.

On the current five-game form guide, they sit second, having accumulated 12 points.

Most recently, they won 5–0 against AFC Telford, with a hat-trick from Carlton Ubaezuonu and further goals from Reece Hall-Johnson and Layton Love.

They are placed 8th in the league, level on 16 points with Buxton after ten matches.

One to watch

Jesse Nwabueze has scored five goals so far and is joint top scorer for the Linnets.

He joined the club this summer after spells at Maidstone United and Aveley last season.

Earlier in his career, he came through the Crystal Palace academy before moving to Ipswich Town, later playing for Bury, Stowmarket Town, and Felixstowe & Walton United.

A versatile forward, he can operate across the front line and uses his pace to stretch defenders.

Head to Head

Buxton’s recent record against King’s Lynn is poor, with no wins in the last five meetings. The Bucks’ most recent victory was in 2023, while King’s Lynn has won four of those games and one has ended in a draw.

The last match was in February, where Ashton Mee scored for Buxton, but goals from Reece Hall-Johnson and Terry Bondo secured a win for the visitors at The Silverlands.

Last time at The Walks, Buxton went 2–0 up through Oliver Greaves and Cian Coleman before Hall-Johnson, Tai Fleming, and Adam Marriott completed a comeback win for King’s Lynn.
