Dilan Markanday scored once and created another as Chesterfield produced a dominant second-half display to beat Tranmere Rovers and move into the League Two play-off places.
The Spireites controlled the first half and could have been out of sight before the break, with Markanday’s superb individual effort giving Paul Cook’s side a deserved lead.
Chesterfield created a string of opportunities, with Louie Marsh going close before Markanday cut inside from the right and curled a superb effort into the far corner.
Joel Randall then fired wide, Markanday saw another effort saved and Marsh struck the crossbar as the hosts continued to threaten.
Tranmere offered very little during the opening 45 minutes, managing just one touch inside the Chesterfield penalty area and failing to register a shot on target.
The visitors improved after the break and were rewarded shortly before the hour mark.
Tom Ince delivered a dangerous cross into the box and Dylan Jones powered a header past the Chesterfield defence to bring Tranmere level.
However, Chesterfield quickly regained control and continued to create chances.
Lee Bonis was unable to convert a close-range header before the Spireites finally restored their lead with seven minutes remaining.
Markanday provided the assist for Marsh, who fired home via a deflection to make it 2-1.
Substitute Josh Koroma then took centre stage, scoring twice late on to put the result beyond doubt.
His first was a low strike before he completed his double with a toe-poked finish to spark celebrations for the home side.
Jacob Slater pulled another goal back for Tranmere with a late effort, but Chesterfield held on for a deserved victory.
The result gives the Spireites their fourth League Two win of the season, while Tranmere suffer their second league defeat.
