Buxton strengthened their form at The Silverlands with a composed 3‑1 win over Chester, securing back‑to‑back home victories this week.
Pressure arrived early from the hosts, with Sisa Tuntulwana’s long throws repeatedly forcing Chester’s defence to clear urgently.
Chester’s reply came quickly, as Sam Reed swung a cross just over Jacob Hazel before driving into the box moments later, only to be crowded out before he could shoot.
Weston threatened next, meeting Josh Pescatore’s back‑post delivery with a header that Hewitson pushed away at his near post.
In the 14th minute, Nathan Woodthorpe burst to the byline and whipped a cross through the area without finding a teammate.
Moments later, Murphy went close from a free‑kick on the edge of the box, his low strike deflecting kindly into Logan Stretch’s gloves.
The breakthrough arrived in the 27th minute when a Chester mistake allowed Tuntulwana to break into the box and finish calmly into the bottom corner.
Chester levelled ten minutes later, Billy Waters finding space from a reworked free‑kick and smashing home the equaliser.
Buxton restored control before the interval. Tuntulwana was brought down by Declan Weeks, giving Devlan Moses the chance to convert from the spot for his first goal for the club.
At half‑time, Buxton added an extra midfielder, replacing Pescatore with Ashton Mee to tighten the centre of the pitch.
Mee’s first impact off of the bench was picking up a yellow card for his foul on Waters.
Energy remained high after the restart, with Moses surging down the left and flashing a dangerous ball across the box that lacked a finishing touch.
Defensive commitment followed, as Jake Griffin threw himself in front of a driven effort from Kian Scales.
Scales shifted roles moments later, attempting to slide Tuntulwana through, but Chester defended the move well.
Buxton went close again, Weston’s effort taking a deflection and clipping the crossbar.
Kofi Moore then volleyed an effort over the bar, after a well worked move from Jefferson Abreu.
Another burst from Moses in the 72nd minute produced another threatening delivery, but again no Buxton player could apply the finish.
The decisive moment came six minutes later when Tuntulwana’s initial effort was blocked, only for him to react quickest and bury the rebound for 3‑1.
Late chances still arrived, with substitute Johnny Johnston forcing Hewitson into a sharp near‑post save.
Right at the end, Chester almost found a consolation, but Will Trueman stood firm to block the attempts inside the area.
