On Friday night, The Bucks won 3-2 away at Oxford City, with two goals from Sisa Tuntulwana and a goal from Kieran Burton getting the better of two goals from Tyrone Marsh.

Tuntulwana’s double earned him a place in the National League North Team of the Week.

Oliver Tipton

Before the game on Friday, The Bucks announced the loan signing of Oliver Tipton, who joins on a month-long deal from Kidderminster Harriers.

Jordan Broadbent

Reflecting on the game against Oxford City, Broadbent said:

“I think first and foremost we have beaten a really good side tonight, credit to Ross and his team they are really well coached, dominated a lot of the ball at times, really clean in possession. But I thought in all phases of the game tonight I thought we were outstanding.

We had spells on the ball, we had spells in transition where we were outstanding, defended the box really well and yeah to come away on a Friday night, long trip, to take three points away I thought was fantastic.”

Opposition Facts

Founded in 1918, they played in the Football League until 1930 before they were folded and replaced by Merthyr Tydfil, until they were reformed in 2010 as Merthyr Town again.

Their highest-ever finish as Merthyr Town was when they finished fourth in the National League.

They have reached the second round of the FA Cup on five occasions and played Buxton in the first round in the 2022-23 season.

Nicknamed The Martyrs, they play their home games at Penydarren Park, which has a capacity of over 4,000.

The away side are led by Paul Michael, who took charge in 2022 and previously managed at Yate Town and Cinderford.

Last season, they finished 8th in the National League North, narrowly missing out on the playoffs by three points.

This season, their home kit is white, their away kit is purple and their third kit is black.

So far this season, they have won one game, drawn three games and lost one game.

Most recently, they drew 1-1 against Chorley, with former Buck Warren Clarke scoring for the Magpies and Elis Watts scoring for Merthyr Town.

One To Watch – Jay Williams

Williams joined Merthyr in 2025 on a permanent deal following a loan spell from Sutton United in the season before.

A centre-back, he can also play at full-back and was in the academy at Fulham, winning the Premier League Cup.

He has featured at international level for Wales Youth from U16 through to U21.
