Seven businesses have expanded in Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre – creating new opportunities for local people and helping to ensure that Chesterfield remains a thriving borough.
Three years after opening, Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre continues to provide a strong platform for businesses to grow and helps attracts new enterprises to the borough.
The businesses expanding in the centre offer a range of professional services and products, office expansion has been driven by increased sales and larger teams for the companies.
Grant Deeley, Managing Director of Intuitive Infrastructure Solutions, said: “Intuitive is an IT and Services company, we initially started out with a small virtual office at the Enterprise Centre and over the last couple of years we have grown to the extent that we now have additional office locations in the US, EU and London.
“As the business has expanded, so too has our footprint in Chesterfield. We’ve moved into a larger space within the Enterprise Centre, with an eye on moving to an even larger one in the coming twelve months as we look to build out our Managed Services Capability. This growth has also led to a significant increase in headcount from the local community, whilst strengthening the team and supporting our long-term growth strategy.”
A further six businesses have expanded their presence in the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre.
Nuzest, an Australian plant-based nutritional supplements company, was one of the was one of the first tenants of the Enterprise Centre in 2023 and has recently moved into a larger space.
Apogee a creative marketing business, started in one of the small offices and recent growth has seen it move into one of the largest.
Best Solicitors moved to the Enterprise Centre last year and has quickly taken a second room to cope with increased demand for appointments and meetings.
Chief Executive Officer, Donna Tilbrook said: “Growth like this doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of our Chesterfield team investing time in building relationships, getting involved in the local community and earning the trust of the people and businesses we work with every day.
“Expanding our office is an exciting milestone, but for us it’s more than just taking on extra space. It’s a sign that we’re becoming an established part of Chesterfield, and we’re proud to be growing alongside so many ambitious and successful businesses at the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre.”
Integrated Interest a software platform provider has moved into a medium sized office and hired a new apprentice.
National Grid is another tenant business occupying multiple spaces in the centre to support local projects.
Fox and Edwards, an events and heritage business, moved into the building in 2024 and has taken on additional space to support its ongoing growth.
Councillor Tricia Gilby, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, said: “It is fantastic to see businesses expanding in our enterprise centre – creating new roles for local people and driving growth in our borough. Our enterprise centres offer businesses fantastic facilities, dedicated support and flexibility.
“We want to ensure that Chesterfield remains a thriving borough and through our enterprise centres we can provide businesses the support they need to grow. Our first enterprise centre opened in 1997, and we’ve seen lots of brilliant businesses grow out of our centres and establish themselves in our borough.”
The offices which businesses have expanded into became vacant after East Midlands Combined County Authority moved into larger premises in Chesterfield in April. This helps ensure that these jobs stay in Chesterfield which increases the number of people in the town centre during the week to support local businesses and the authority has occupied a previously vacant building, bringing it back into productive use.
Chesterfield Borough Council runs three enterprise and innovation centres which provide a range of serviced offices suites, virtual offices, individual desks and meeting rooms for businesses.
Businesses benefit from high-speed connectivity, a professional reception team and are directed to other support the council provides to support growth.
All office spaces across Enterprise Chesterfield are offered on easy in and out letting terms to provide businesses with the flexibility they need.
