CHESTERFIELD’s first padel club is set to open – and players can try the sport for free.
Atmos Padel will open on Saturday August 22, following a £350k investment to breathe life into the former Queen’s Park Tennis Club, which has stood unused for six years.
Atmos Padel will offer four state-of-the-art outdoor doubles courts amid “insatiable” demand from local players.
And all bookings at Atmos Padel will be free to book – via www.atmospadel.com – over the club’s opening weekend, with courts also half price during the first week.
Britain’s fastest growing sport, the UK has over a million padel players – compared to just 15,000 before the pandemic.
“Padel’s popularity has exploded, yet Chesterfield has long been one of the biggest towns in the UK without a club,” said Adam Holman, Head of Padel Operations at Atmos Padel.
“Players have often travelled to Dronfield or even Sheffield for a game – but we are changing that.
“Atmos Padel’s goal is to ease that growing insatiable demand with a club finally in the heart of Chesterfield, whilst also becoming the town’s
premier padel community.”
Having recently rebranded from Padel Project, Atmos Padel already has five popular clubs across the country – with ambitious plans to open
multiple clubs each year.
“A big reason padel’s popularity has soared is the social scene it creates, and that’s integral to all of our clubs,” added Adam.
“Atmos Padel is more than just courts; Like our other clubs, it will be a community, with a full programme of americano mix-ins, junior sessions and tournaments alongisde other fun events – like over-50s socials and women’s coffee-and-padel morning – as part of an inclusive programme designed to give everyone a route into the sport.”
Player can book matches at Atmos Padel via the club’s own app or website, where they can hire courts for private games with friends, or book onto a public game with fellow enthusiasts.
“One of padel’s many joys is that it can be enjoyed by everyone – regardless of ability or age,” said Ben Lacey, CEO of Atmos Padel.
“Our clubs have thousands of people in their communities, and we can’t wait to grow a fantastic, warm community in Chesterfield.”
The Park Road club is open between 8am and 10pm mid-week, closing at 8pm on a Saturday. It opens between 9am – 7pm on a Sunday.
