It’s great to see improvement work has started at Matlock’s Hurst Farm Social Club – the Farmers’ View – as part of our Hurst Farm Regeneration Project.
Over the next four months the internal back section of the building will be refurbished into a modern community hub, including the improvement of the toilet facilities and installation of a disabled toilet.
This will create a modern multi-functional community room providing spaces for events, sporting and community activities with a café and commercial kitchen and French windows opening onto a small terrace.
The work is made possible through a Sport England grant, combined with smaller funding pots, £5,000 from Chevin Homes and a loan facility provided by the District Council.
The current work follows improvements made by the directors of the club internally to the front of the building during Covid, creating a fresh and modern room and bar.
Further funding is being raised to complete more improvements in the future that will see the outside of the building transformed and a small extension built.
