Witnesses sought after a man has died in Heanor

Derbyshire Police are investigating after a man has died following an incident in Heanor.

On Wednesday 27 October three men were believed to be outside Boyes shop on Market Street in the town centre, when an assault has taken place between two of the men, sometime between 1pm and 4pm.

A man was taken to hospital on 27 October where he sadly died yesterday, Friday 29 October.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the man’s death and he remains in police custody.

Derbyshire Police has has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. It follows an incident in Alfreton where a man has died. Just before 5pm on Wednesday 27 October, officers attended an address on Morewood Drive in Alfreton. A 23-year-old man was detained who became unwell, he was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later sadly died.
