Wirksworth Heritage Centre like many other places opened up on Monday 12th April 2021.
The centre celebrated reopening and a funding boost of £28,688 in the recent second round of payments from the culture recovery fund
Funding will go towards the forthcoming activities planned for the rest of the year.
General manager Roger Shelley says, “We’re excited about support for our 2021 exhibition and on loan from Oxford University Museum of Natural History, we are expecting to have on show some of the fossilised bones from a 43,000 year old woolly rhino which met its fate in Wirksworth”
“Grant backing will enable us to bring in a number of guest speakers, and we’re optimistic that we will be able to commission an artist to create an animatronic woolly rhino too!”
