Friday Drivetime With Nigel Turner.
Nigel is a Chesterfield lad. He was born and raised in Birdholme, and that’s where his passion for radio began. At the age of seven, his parents gave him a clock radio for Christmas and he soon discovered Terry Wogan’s Breakfast Show on Radio 2. From that moment, he was hooked.
Later, Nigel realised his dreams. Hospital Radio in Sheffield opened doors for voluntary work at Radio Sheffield and later still, ‘proper’ paid work at Hallam FM. ‘Getting paid for doing something you love is a privilege’, he says- ‘especially when you’re working with so many of your radio heroes.’
Along the way, Nigel also sold gas cylinders for a few years at the Tube Works in Chesterfield, and was a local Teacher and Headteacher.
He’s on the air on Fridays from 4pm. Don’t be late. You don’t want detention – and you might need a note from your mum!
