Man left in hospital with serious injuries after reports of assault in Shirebrook

A man has been left in a serious condition in hospital after reports of an assault in Shirebrook.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was found with serious injuries in Chestnut Drive just before 7am this morning (11 August).

He has been taken to hospital where he remains.

A man in his 60s has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Inspector John Troup said: “While this will no doubt be a troubling incident to the local community it is understood that this is an isolated event and there is no wider risk to the public.

“Over the coming days there will be an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue into the circumstances of the incident.

“If you have information, or concerns, about what has happened please talk to the officers.

“Should you not feel comfortable approaching them in person then you can report any details to the force using any of the below methods, including reference 154-110821.”
