COVID-19 test kits now available in all Derbyshire libraries.

We’re making it even easier to pick up COVID-19 test kits as we have made them available in libraries and mobile library vans.

One in 3 people with COVID-19 have no symptoms which means you could be spreading the virus to other, more vulnerable people, without realising it.

Regular testing helps prevent the spread of the virus.

The lateral flow test kits that are now available to pick up in libraries are for people with no symptoms.

You can also get test kits from pharmacies, through home ordering or from one of our mobile testing vans.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms then you need to order a PCR test online.

Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, Councillor Carol Hart said:

“Vaccinations are vital in helping to reduce the impacts of COVID-19 but anything we can do to help prevent the spread of the virus is still key.

“That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to carry on testing themselves, and their families, in order to reduce the spread further.”

Test kits are available to pick up in all of our 45 libraries and 2 mobile library vans.

Rapid lateral flow tests help to find cases in people who may have no symptoms but are still infectious and can give the virus to others.

The test involves taking a sample from your tonsils (or where they would have been) and from your nose, using a swab. You can get a result in 30 minutes.
