Two men have been charged with drink driving over the weekend, as our annual Christmas drink and drug drive campaign continues.
Officers were called to a report that a car had collided with a parked car in Lathkill Road, Chaddesden at 10.35pm on Friday evening (17 December). A 54-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Gurnam Rai of Lathkill Road, Chaddesden was charged on Saturday morning (18 December) and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on 6 January 2022.
On Saturday evening, officers in Chesterfield arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of drink driving after responding to a report that a car had collided with street furniture in Markham Road, at around 10.15pm. James Roberts of Catchford View, Upper Newbold, was later charged with the offence.
Mr Roberts is due to appear at Chesterfield Magistrates Court on 10 January 2022.
Meanwhile, in Hathersage, Dales response officers were called to reports of a car in a ditch on the A625 at Froggat Edge.
On arrival they found a woman, the driver of the car in a car 30 feet down an embankment. She was breathalysed and failed the roadside test blowing a reading of 46 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit being 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.
The 25-year-old who is from Leek, Staffordshire was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and enquiries are ongoing.
