Buxton left it very late to win the Derbyshire Senior Cup in dramatic fashion at Pride Park against Derby County’s Under 21’s.
The home side took an early lead through Kido Taylor-Hart’s low driven shot and Derby went into the break with the advantage.
Craig Elliott’s side resumed after the break and were much better but just couldn’t find the breakthrough until the late drama.
There were 89 minutes on the clock when the ball was delivered into the box by the Bucks and Diego De Girolamo was able to get on the end of it and make it 1-1.
The officials signalled 5 minutes of added on time and in the final minute of that period a looping header from Connor Kirby landed in the net to give Buxton a late winner and break Derby hearts.
Craig Elliott’s side lifted the trophy in front of 799 fans who saw high drama at Pride Park.
North Derbyshire Radio’s Sports News Correspondent Khai Smith spoke to the Buxton manager pitchside.
