Leisure centre membership fees will not go up this year in North East Derbyshire despite facilities feeling the strain of the ongoing energy crisis, as the council gives residents a helping hand to stay healthy.
North East Derbyshire District Council Leader Councillor Alex Dale announced the authority would not be increasing fees in a meeting on Monday, January 30.
He commented: “I think that demonstrates out commitment to supporting our leisure service, which is facing financial challenges due to rising energy prices, having invested heavily in imporvements to our centres.
“But we’re also supporting more residents to access the health and wellbeing benefits of membership by keeping our fees as low as possible at a time when people are under significant pressures.”
