Events have been planned to mark the occasion in Derby city centre, and in many towns and villages in Derbyshire.

You may see more police activity in Derby during the run up to the events at the weekend, as officers work alongside partner organisations to ensure everyone enjoys themselves safely and securely.

Patrols will be taking place throughout the county, with extra police being deployed to the city centre as the events take place.

There will be road and car park closures in Derby city centre as a result of the events – so please check on the Derby City Council website for the details of any disruption: https://www.derby.gov.uk/news/2022/may/platinum-jubilee-faq/

You may also find that there are localised road closures in parts of the county, so please be aware that you may need to find an alternative route.

Inspector Chris Thornhill said: “We know that people will be planning to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne in many different ways, be that at parties at home with friends and families, in our pubs or restaurants or at an organised event.

“However you plan to mark the occasion, look out for one another and enjoy the bank holiday safely and responsibly.”

Insp. Thornhill added: “Please respect any security measures in place and trust your instincts. We will have a police presence out and about, and we would urge people to report anything that doesn’t look or feel right to officers or security staff as soon as possible.”

You can also report it online at gov.uk/ACT. In an emergency, dial 999.
