It was heartbreak in the FA Trophy though for Matlock Town. The defeat means that Matlock can now focus solely on trying to secure promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Buxton missed out on a massive opportunity to go five points clear at the top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division. The Bucks lost 2-1 at home to FC United of Manchester. Buxton took the lead after 29 minutes when Dom Tear’s header found the back of the net. FC United equalised though in the 56th minute through Curtis Jones and then found a winner with just ten minutes to go thanks to a Joe Duckworth goal. The result means that the Bucks remain top of the NPL Premier Division but stay just two points clear of fierce rivals Matlock Town after now playing the same amount of games. This sets up the derby clash between the two sides beautifully on December the 27th.
And in the NCEL Premier Division, Staveley Miners Welfare beat Albion Sports 3-0 at Inkersall Road. Goals from Rieves Boocock, Declan Howe and Jack Dillingham secured all three points for Staveley. The victory means that The Trojans move up to 12th place in the league.
