Chesterfield fell from the top of the National League on Saturday as they were defeated 2-1 at home to Maidenhead United. The visitors opened the scoring through Koby Arthur just before half time and doubled their lead in the 50th minute when Ashley Nathanial-George got the better of Spireites ‘keeper Lucas Covalan. Chesterfield did score a consolation, three minutes into added time, however Tyrone Williams’ late goal was not enough to extend Paul Cook’s side’s unbeaten start to the season as they slip to 3rd place.

Buxton are through to the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup after cruising to a 3-0 win away at Bamber Bridge. The National League North outfit took the lead halfway through the first half through Scott Boden and went into the break in a comfortable position. Connor Kirby made it two for The Bucks just after the restart, before completing the scoring in the 92nd minute sending Buxton into the next round where they will be looking to carry on their heroics from last year as they got to the 2nd round proper.

Chesterfield Ladies hit ten past Pocklington Town Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup 2nd qualifying round on Sunday. Georgina Williams scored four of the goals as Chesterfield eased into the next round of the competition. Gina Canfield also pitched in with two goals; as Cook, Smyth, Purdy, and Baker completed the rout.

In the Northern Premier League, Matlock Town came from behind to earn themselves a point at home to Nantwich Town. Jamie Menagh converted from the spot for Nantwich, but Matlock’s persistence saw them equalise through Reece Kendall as The Gladiators continue their solid start to the season and sit 2nd in the league.

Staveley Miners Welfare also earned themselves a point in the Northern Counties East League, away to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic. Marley Grant equalised from the spot for Staveley after Worsbrough had taken the lead early on. This result drops Staveley to 12th in the league after ten games.

Buxton Young Bucks defeated Matlock Town Ladies 4-2 in an enthralling game in Matlock. Austin and Heywood both scored two as The Young Bucks’ 100% record in the Derbyshire Girls & Ladies League Division Two league continues. They stay sat at the top of the table, while Matlock slip down to 7th.
