Chesterfield dropped to third position in the National League following their 1-1 draw at Notts County on Saturday. Alex Whittle gave the Spireites the lead after 13 minutes but Notts County equalised on the stroke of half-time thanks to a converted penalty from Kyle Wootton.

Chesterfield Women’s excellent run of form continued over the weekend as they beat Notts County Women 3-0 at home. Goals from Georgia Willson, Millie Standen and Emily Mapley-Sims secured all three points for Mike Noon’s side. The Spireites have now stretched their lead at the top of the East Midlands Womens Premier Division to three points but Northampton Town Women now have three games in hand following the postponement of their scheduled game last weekend.
Alfreton Town fought back to claim a point in a 2-2 draw at home against Southport in the National League North. Goals from Dylan Vassallo and Charlie Munro gave Southport a 2-0 lead at the interval but Billy Heath’s side staged an impressive comeback in the second half and goals from Matt Rhead and Dayle Southwell secured a well-earned point at The Impact Arena. Following the draw, Alfreton Town slipped one place to 16th in the table.
Buxton remain two points clear at the top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division following their 3-0 victory away at Witton Albion. Goals from Daniel Cowan, Warren Clarke and Diego De Girolamo secured a very comfortable away victory for the Bucks.
Elsewhere in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Matlock Town battled hard to claim a well-earned point on the road at fellow promotion contenders Scarborough Athletic. Both defences came out on top as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The Gladiators remain in third position in the league.
Last but not least, Staveley Miners Welfare finally put an end to their losing streak in the NCEL Premier Division following their 3-0 victory at home against Athersley Recreation. A goal from Bradley Jones and a brace from Declan Howe in the last ten minutes of the match gave the Trojans all three points. Staveley have risen up to 11th position in the league table.
