Chesterfield beat Dover Athletic 3-2 at The Technique Stadium in a dramatic game in the National League on Saturday afternoon. Michael Gyasi gave Dover a surprise lead after 14 minutes before Saidou Khan equalised for the Spireites ten minutes later. Jake Goodman then looked to have given Dover all three points when he scored in the 81st minute. However, another equaliser from Saidou Khan just one minute afterwards followed by an 85th minute winner from Jeff King rescued Chesterfield and secured a crucial victory for Paul Cook’s men. The victory means that the Spireites are in fifth position in the National League and the club seven points inside a play-offs place with just four matches remaining.

Alfreton Town’s excellent run of form continued on Saturday as they beat Leamington 2-1 away from home in the National League North. Conor Branson gave the Reds the lead shortly before half time while an own goal from Jack Lane doubled Alfreton’s advantage in the 64th minute. Dan Turner’s converted penalty in the 75th minute gave Leamington hope of salvaging something from the game but Billy Heath’s side held on to record their fourth win in a row away from home. The victory means that Alfreton Town’s unlikely challenge for a play-offs place is well and truly on. The Reds now sit in 11th position in the league table but are only two points behind seventh-placed Kettering Town who currently occupy the final play-offs spot. The Reds also have a game in hand on several teams and this match takes place this coming Tuesday night against Curzon Ashton at The Impact Arena.
Buxton lost 1-0 away at Stalybridge Celtic on the final day of the Northern Premier League Premier Division season. Despite the defeat, the Bucks were still officially crowned as league champions on Saturday. A goal after only three minutes from Justin Johnson gave Stalybridge all three points.
Last but not least, Matlock Town secured their first play-offs finish in the Northern Premier League Premier Division for 15 years following a 2-0 victory at home against Warrington Town. Second half goals from Benito Lowe and Alex Byrne gave the Gladiators all three points. The victory meant that the Gladiators finished in fourth position in the league table. Matlock Town will face Scarborough Athletic at The Flamingo Land Stadium on Tuesday evening in a one-legged play-off semi-final.
