Chesterfield beat Bromley 3-2 at The Technique Stadium on Saturday afternoon to put an end to a three match losing streak in the National League. Jeff King gave the Spireites the lead after 13 minutes before Adam Marriott equalised for the visitors eight minutes into the second half. Ollie Banks restored Chesterfield’s lead on the hour mark and Kabongo Tshimanga converted a penalty in the 74th minute to give Paul Cook’s side a 3-1 lead. Adam Marriott found the back of the net once again for Bromley in the 78th minute to set up a very tense and fractious final ten minutes of the game but the hosts held on to take all three points. The match was an extremely ill-tempered affair and saw red cards dished out to both Bromley player Omar Sowunmi and Bromley manager Andy Woodman. The Spireites have risen to third position in the league table.

Alfreton Town snatched a point in a dramatic climax to draw 2-2 away at Blyth Spartans in the National League North on Saturday. Bailey Hobson gave the Reds a very early lead but goals in the 71st and 79th minutes from JJ O’Donnell and Josh Scott looked to have given the hosts all three points. However, Alfreton levelled the game in the tenth minute of stoppage time thanks to a converted penalty from Matt Rhead. Billy Heath’s side have slipped down to 11th position in the league table.

Elsewhere in the National League North, Buxton were defeated 2-0 away from home by Brackley Town. A brace from Callum Stead gave the hosts all three points. Jamie Vermiglio’s side remain in 19th position in the table and are just two points clear of the relegation zone.

It was a bad day at the office for Matlock Town as they were beaten 3-1 at Warrington Town in the NPL Premier Division. Stefan Mols and James Harris scored for the Yellows to give them a 2-0 lead at the interval. Connor Woods then scored just three minutes into the second half to extend Warrington’s lead. Kallan Murphy scored a late consolation goal for the Gladiators. Craig Elliott’s side have slipped to sixth position in the league table.

Glossop North End were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Runcorn Linnets in the NPL Division One West league. Keaton Mulvey gave the hosts the lead after 55 minutes but were pegged back in the 82nd minute when James Short equalised for the visitors. The Hillmen now sit in 11th position in the league table.

New Mills beat Foley Meir 2-1 away from home on Saturday in the NWCFL Division One South league. A goal on the hour mark from Jordan Milne gave the Millers the lead but the hosts equalised just a minute later through Thomas Wakefield. However, the Millers secured a dramatic late victory when Kyle Hawley scored from the penalty spot in the first minute of stoppage time. New Mills now sit in ninth position in the table.

Staveley Miners Welfare thrashed Athersley Recreation 5-0 at Inkersall Road on Saturday. A brace from Alexander Duhameau plus goals from Reece Clegg, Samuel Kay and Max Rhodes handed the Trojans a comprehensive victory and they now occupy eighth position in the league table.

Unfortunately, the Women’s FA Cup third qualifying round game between Wem Town Ladies and Chesterfield Ladies and the Derbyshire Girls and Ladies League Division Two match between Stanton Ilkeston Development team and Matlock Town Ladies were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
