Chesterfield beat Maidenhead United 1-0 at The Technique Stadium on Saturday afternoon to remain in second position in the National League. Akwasi Asante scored the only goal of the game in the 76th minute to secure all three points for the Spireites. Paul Cook’s side are seven points behind leaders Stockport County.

Chesterfield Women thrashed Rotherham United Women 8-0 at home to remain top of the East Midlands Womens Premier Division. A hat-trick from Gina Camfield plus goals from Emmi Cook, Georgina Williams, Amy Pashley, Hannah Baker and Millie Standen gave Mike Noon’s side all three points. Chesterfield Women remain just above second placed Northampton Town Women on goal difference.
Alfreton Town suffered a 3-0 defeat away at AFC Fylde on Saturday in the National League North. Goals from Jamie Stott, Nick Haughton and Danny Philliskirk condemned the Reds to defeat. The loss sees Billy Heath’s side drop down to 15th position in the league table.
In the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Buxton were held to a 0-0 draw away from home at play-off contenders Whitby Town. Despite the dropped points, the Bucks are still top of the league but have seen their lead at the top cut down to two points by South Shields.
Matlock Town’s poor run of form continued over the weekend as they lost 2-1 to Mickleover at the Don Amott Arena in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Goals from Stuart Beavon and William Radcliffe gave Mickleover a 2-0 lead. An own goal from Jonathan Hodge with 20 minutes to go gave the Gladiators hope but they could not find an equaliser. Despite winning only one from their last nine games, Matlock Town remain in third position in the league table.
Matlock Town Ladies drew 1-1 with Borrowash Victoria Ladies on Sunday. Amy Barnett scored Matlock’s only goal of the game.
Staveley Miners Welfare’s miserable run of form continued on Saturday. They lost 2-1 away at Eccleshill United in the NCEL Premier Division. Declan Howe’s goal in the 65th minute looked to have sealed a much-needed win for the Trojans but goals in the last five minutes of the match from Jordan Emery and Luke Aldrich condemned Staveley to a heartbreaking defeat. The Trojans have now lost six games in a row and have slipped to 12th position in the league table.
