A very poor performance from the defence cost Chesterfield dearly on Saturday as they lost 4-2 away at Bromley in the National League. A brace from Ali Al-Hamadi plus a goal from Luke Coulson put Bromley 3-0 up after just 36 minutes played. Remarkably, the Spireites cut the deficit down to 3-2 before the interval thanks to goals from Laurence Maguire and Tom Denton. However, Bromley found a fourth goal only five minutes after the re-start when Corey Whitely scored. The defeat means that Paul Cook’s side now occupy the final play-offs spot in the National League in seventh position and now sit only four points ahead of eighth-placed Dagenham & Redbridge with three games remaining.
