A very poor performance from the defence cost Chesterfield dearly on Saturday as they lost 4-2 away at Bromley in the National League. A brace from Ali Al-Hamadi plus a goal from Luke Coulson put Bromley 3-0 up after just 36 minutes played. Remarkably, the Spireites cut the deficit down to 3-2 before the interval thanks to goals from Laurence Maguire and Tom Denton. However, Bromley found a fourth goal only five minutes after the re-start when Corey Whitely scored. The defeat means that Paul Cook’s side now occupy the final play-offs spot in the National League in seventh position and now sit only four points ahead of eighth-placed Dagenham & Redbridge with three games remaining. The Spireites have a huge game in store for Bank Holiday Monday as they host top of the table Stockport County at 3pm.
Alfreton Town drew 0-0 against Chester at The Impact Arena on Saturday. Despite not picking up maximum points, Billy Heath’s side are still right in the mix for the battle to finish in the final play-offs spot in the National League North table. The Reds are in eighth position in the table and are just one point behind Boston United with only two games remaining. Alfreton are away at Kettering Town on Bank Holiday Monday with kick-off at 3pm.
