Chesterfield Ladies reached the final of the Derbyshire Women’s County Cup for the first time in their history on Sunday afternoon. They defeated lower-tier Draycott Victoria Ladies 3-0 at home thanks to a brace from Shannon Purdy and a goal from Georgina Wiiliams. Mike Noon’s side will face Derby County Women U20 in the final of the competition with the date and venue still to be confirmed.

Alfreton Town were held to a 0-0 draw away at Chorley on Saturday. The Reds remain in 12th position in the National League North table.

Elsewhere in the National League North, Buxton’s worrying loss of form in the league continued as they fell to a poor 2-0 defeat at home to bottom of the league AFC Telford United. Josh O’Brien broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute before Lewis Salmon killed the game off in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Craig Elliott’s side remain 20th in the table and sit five points clear of the relegation zone.

Matlock Town recorded an excellent 2-0 victory away at Stafford Rangers in the NPL Premier Division. The Gladiators scored their first goal after only ten seconds through Karl Demidh before John Johnston doubled Matlock’s lead after only seven minutes played. The Gladiators have risen up to sixth position in the league table and sit just three points behind the play-off places.

Glossop North End were defeated 3-1 away at Leek Town in the NPL Division One West. A brace from Thomas Carr and a strike from Tim Grice secured all three points for the hosts while Niall Moran netted a late consolation goal for the Hillmen. Glossop sit in 17th position in the league table.

Staveley Miners Welfare returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they beat Brigg Town 2-0 at Inkersall Road in the NCEL Division One league. Goals in each half from Marley Grant and Max Rhodes sealed the three points for the Trojans. Staveley remain in sixth position in the league table and sit just one point behind the play-off places.

Dronfield Town Ladies were eliminated from the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women’s Challenge Cup at the third round stage after they were thrashed 9-0 by Huddersfield Town Women.

Unfortunately, the scheduled matches involving New Mills and Matlock Town Ladies were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
