Chesterfield moved up to third position in the National League following a 3-1 victory over Dorking Wanders at The Technique Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kabongo Tshimanga converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time to give the Spireites the lead but James McShane equalised for the visitors in the 58th minute. However, goals in the final ten minutes of the match from Armando Dobra and Joe Quigley secured all three points for the Spireites.

Chesterfield Ladies returned to winning ways in style on Sunday as they thrashed league leaders Notts County Women 5-0 away from home at Greenwich Avenue. A brace from Georgina Williams plus goals from Millie Standen, Gina Camfield and Kel Fidler secured a hugely important win for Mike Noon’s side. The victory means that the Blues have moved up to second position in the East Midlands Women’s Premier Division.

Buxton comfortably beat Peterborough Sports 3-0 at The Tarmac Silverlands Stadium in the National League North. A converted penalty from Diego DeGirolamo gave the Bucks a 1-0 lead at the interval. Second half goals from Jack McKay and Sam Osborne secured a much-needed league victory for Buxton. The Bucks have moved up to 18th position in the table and are now five points clear of the relegation zone.

Staveley Miners Welfare beat Glasshoughton Welfare 2-0 at Inkersall Road on Saturday afternoon in the NCEL Division One league. Goals in each half from Alexander Duhameau gave the Trojans all three points. Staveley have moved up to sixth position in the league table and are just two points behind the play-off places.

The scheduled games involving Alfreton Town, Matlock Town, Glossop North End, New Mills, Dronfield Town Ladies and Matlock Town Ladies were all postponed due to frozen pitches.

Huge local football news broke on Sunday evening as it was confirmed that Craig Elliott has departed Matlock Town to become Buxton’s new manager. The Gladiators are now looking for their third manager for this season
