Chesterfield once again failed to hold onto a lead as they drew 2-2 at home against Southend United in the National League. The Spireites took the lead after just nine minutes thanks to Jeff King’s wonder strike from 30 yards out. Southend equalised in the 53rd minute after Sam Dalby converted a penalty. Chesterfield looked to have secured a third win on the bounce when Calvin Miller scored in the 77th minute but Fraser Kerr’s own goal in the 88th minute broke Spireite hearts. Chesterfield remain in second position in the National League but have now fallen five points behind leaders Stockport County.

Alfreton Town finally returned to winning ways as they defeated AFC Telford United 3-2 away from home in the National League North. It looked like it was going to be another long day at the office for the Reds when they found themselves 2-0 down after 47 minutes. Jason Oswell scored Telford’s first on the stroke of half time before adding a second goal just 90 seconds into the second half. However, Billy Heath’s side went on to produce an inspired comeback. They were handed a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty in the 51st minute which Matt Rhead scored from. Bailey Hobson scored an excellent equaliser in the 61st minute before Matt Rhead scored his second goal of the game just seven minutes later to complete a remarkable comeback. The win sees the Reds move up to 15th position in the league table.
Buxton put in a splendid performance to cruise to a 4-0 victory away at Bamber Bridge in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. A brace from Diego De Girolamo plus goals from Warren Clarke and Jason Gilchrist secured all three points for the Bucks and maintained their good run of form. Buxton remain in second position in the league and are now just one point behind leaders South Shields.
Matlock Town secured a much-needed victory as they came from behind at Gainsborough Trinity to win 2-1 in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. The Gladiators had gone into this match without a win in five games. An excellent free kick from Jovon Makama after 53 minutes gave Trinity the lead. However, Matlock responded well and found an equaliser through Liam Hughes in the 66th minute. Just five minutes later, Ross Hannah bundled the ball home from close range to give the Gladiators the lead. The victory means that Matlock Town remain in third position in the league but are now just two points behind leaders South Shields with a game in hand on them.
Matlock Town Ladies suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Pinxton United Ladies.
Staveley Miners Welfare fell to a fourth defeat in a row as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Garforth Town in the NCEL Premier Division. Charlie Marshall scored the only goal of the game in the 50th minute. Despite the defeat, the Trojans stay in tenth position in the league.
